Bob has long been involved in community affairs and local arts as a participant, author, photographer, and glassblower.
He was Chairman of Milton’s first Holiday Tour of Homes, Chairman of the City of Milton’s Charter Review Commission and is VP of the Milton Historical Society and VP of Southern Magnolia Charities. He was on the board of the Friends of the Milton Library for 5 years. Bob is the author and photographer of two award-winning coffee table books – Bygone Treasures and Timeless Beauties: Barns of Old Milton County and Irish Pubs in America: History, Lore and Recipes. His photographs have appeared in numerous local publications.
For 12 years he gave weekly glassblowing demonstrations at Stone Mountain Park.
Bob served abroad in the US Foreign Service including five years as the US Spokesman at the Tokyo Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland and three years as Director of the US Foreign Press Centers in Washington DC and New York. He was Special Assistant to the White House Staff Director during the final year of the Carter Administration. He held senior positions in the private sector with Scientific-Atlanta and Honeywell Corporation.
Bob has a BA from the University of Colorado and MA in Political Science from UCLA. He is married to Linda and has two daughters and three grandchildren. His mother was born and raised in Alpharetta.
