Book Belles of Milton, GA
Milton book lovers meet once a month at one of the 14 Book Belle’s homes located in Crooked Creek subdivision. The monthly hostess selects the books to be read and leads the discussion on the book.
Recent meetings and the books that we have read include:
December, 2018: We read a short book, Christmas Dog by Melody Carlson.
As a group, we collected personal items to send a care package to the 475th Expeditionary Air Base Squadron service men and women stationed at Camp Simba, Kenya. Their duties are to operate the airfield and runways, overall airfield maintenance operations and the base operations.
October/November, 2018: The Sunshine Sisters by Jane Green – entertaining and a great read!
September, 2018:The Bettencourt Affair by Tom Sancton – Sept. 2018 Comments: Story about the richest woman in the world and daughter of the founder of L’oreal, Lilian Bettencourt.
August, 2018: In the Shadow of Greatness by David Gergen, Joshua Weile, Katherine Kranz, and John Ennis. Hostess book selection was made because her brother wrote one of the segments about his experience as a US Naval Academy graduate and deployment.
July, 2018: A House in the Sky by by Amanda Lindhout and Sarah Corbett. July 2018. A true story of a journalist who was captured while on assignment by Muslin terrorists in Semolina.
June, 2018: Return to Innocence by Craig A Huber – Book signing by a poetry author who lives in Milton. This poetry book consists poems he has written throughout his life.
May, 2018: The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead – A story of one woman’s will to escape the horrors of slavery.
April, 2018: Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly – The story of real life heroines during World War ll.
