Ruby and the Bookmarks

Bill Purdie Milton, GA

Bill Purdie

A romantic jukebox musical written by Milton, Georgia resident Bill Purdie. In the musical Bill uses familiar songs from the ’50s and ’60s to tell the story of characters, Ruby and James —how they meet, fall in love and build a life together.

Broadway Bound Productions presented the World Premier of the original play in May 2018 in Canton, Georgia.

Director Ralph Zaffino rocked out with familiar songs as ‘Diana”, ‘Where or When’ and ‘Rock and Roll is Here to Stay,’ as well as reminisce with such favorites as ‘At Last,’ ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’ and ‘I Only Want to be with You.’

The cast is made up of six actors including Karina Simonis of Waleska in the title role of Ruby and Justin Brown of Atlanta as James.

“The Bookmarks,” the singing group that chronicles the history of Ruby and James, features actors Carlye McLaughlin of Woodstock and the brother and sister duo of Hanna and Bryson Slaughter of Dahlonega.

The youngest of the cast, Juliet Purdie will play the Flower Girl. Juliet is a four-year ballet student and attends first grade at St. Martin’s Episcopal School. This is her debut in her grandfather, Bill Purdie’s, first stage play.
